Pleasant View Farm Bed and Breakfast

In September, I had the opportunity to take some New Cumberland Pictures at the Pleasant View Farm Bed and Breakfast. To say that this place is beautiful doesn’t even cut it. I had never visited here before, but I hope to be back. Gorgeous lake, beautiful house, amazing barn. Any couple that gets married here is blessed to have an amazing venue and full service weekend of wedded bliss. If you’ve never heard of this amazing place, enjoy learning about it below!

Tell me about your business – what do you do?
Ours is a family run business. We have a private cottage on property for our overnight guests with large comfy rooms that have fireplaces and whirlpool tubs for two. Breakfast is super special and I am the chef! We offer 2 barns for weddings and other events and wedding season is quite busy and books about a year in advance.
Tell me about YOU! Why did you choose to do what you do?
I’ve always love staying in B&B’s and thought one day I’d love to own one! We have lived on the farm for 17 years and raised our family here and always said it would make a beautiful B&B one day. Never with the idea that we would be doing this. But, we retired from home building 7 years ago and decided to give it a go. During the first year I was approached about weddings by a few brides and we decided to give that a go and have been enjoying that side of the business so much!
Who was/is your biggest supporter in starting your own business?
My family
What other local business do you just LOVE! Why?
I just love some of our local restaurants. The ones that are not chains but owned by families. I enjoy going to them when I have had a busy work day at the farm and want a great meal and don’t want to cook or clean up. I enjoy fine foods from these establishments. A few examples are; The Garlic Poet, Yak and Yeti, Boomerangs, The Rock Bass Grill.
Outside of your business, what are you passionate about?
vacationing especially to other countries

As Mrs. McKinney drove me around the farm in her beautiful golf cart, she told me the story of how it grew into the business it is today! How amazing it is to do what you love. Mr. McKinney was hard at work mowing the grass as we explored. It is really the two of them making their dreams come true!
