14 years I’ve been a mom, but this Central PA Photographer just keeps on being amazed at my 2 daughters.
Being a single mom isn’t always easy, but it is definitely the most rewarding job I’ve ever had.
At 14 and 11, I never know what I’m going to get or hear from them, but one thing is for sure, laughter will be involved. This Mother’s Day didn’t disappoint. It’s been a couple of years since I’ve had my girls on Mother’s Day. They have been at their dad’s on that weekend. I decided after the first year that it was ok for them to be there. I actually got to relax and didn’t HAVE to do anything when they were gone.
This year, we had to get up extra early for church, which is not at all how I like to start my Mother’s Day, but I had been asked to volunteer to photograph Central Pennsylvania Families at church this morning, so we had to arrive early to set up. Not once did my girls complain about having to get up early or about helping. They helped me load the car and set up once we got to church. They were troopers while we waited for people to come in for photographs and watched things on their iPods and helped with having people fill out forms before pictures.
We got to take a break for church and sing some awesome worship songs. We finished up with a few families then headed to visit my dad and step mom for a little. A nap was certainly in order and while the girls cleaned up their rooms, I did just that.
My oldest had offered to make dinner, so spaghetti was on the menu. Spaghetti, Cesar salad, bread sticks and for dessert, cake in a mug. THIS is the BEST invention EVER! She did a great job with it all. They both gave me a card, Kendra’s was hand made and written from the heart. Brielle’s was store bought, funny and exactly right from her. I love to see what they come up with and think of to give.
We finished out the night watching “Monster Trucks”. I love to hear my children laugh. I love to hear them snort when they laugh and really belly laugh.
They are amazing children and I’m so blessed to be called to be their mom. I wouldn’t have it any other way! I love you girls!
