Meet Rachel | Mechanicsburg High School Senior Pictures

I couldn’t be happier to close out my 2019 High School Senior Pictures with this Mechanicsburg High School Class of 2019 Senior! Rachel’s session was supposed to happen back in October of 2018, but it SNOWED the week before her session and she planned to have her session at Camp Nawakwa in Biglerville, PA and up on the mountain, it would’ve been a sloppy mess. So Rachel decided to wait until Spring to have her session and would you believe that it was slated to rain, not just rain, STORM on her session day!? Yep, but due to some flexibility in my full time job schedule and some fast lines at the passport office, we were able to get most of her session in before the storm hit and then she was able to dance in the rain, which I have always wanted to photograph, and it all fell into place! These Mechanicsburg High School Senior Pictures very well may be some of my favorite to date!

As I drove from my office in Harrisburg to Biglerville, the skies were not pleasant. I had my wipers on low most of the way and as I prayed that the rain would hold off at camp long enough for us to get Rachel’s sessionin, “Praise you in this storm” came on and I was reminded that I wasn’t in charge of the weather and HE held this session in His hands and whatever weather HE saw fit! So for that, I share this song with you, in case you’ve never heard it!

Now, on to Rachel’s session. Rachel was a stunner in this flowered dress. I was so excited to see her get out of the car in it and know there would be movement and spinning involved. I didn’t know that most of it would be in the rain, but that comes later in the session!

Rachel was referred to me by her good friend, Gabby. Check out her blog post if you haven’t already seen it! Lots of laughing there, too!! I love when friends tell friends about me. It always gives us something to talk about and a common ground.

We started at one of Rachel’s favorite spots at the camp while it wasn’t raining. The wind was “fun” to deal with but we got some Beyonce hair a couple of times and just ran with it! When I told her that I wanted her to stand in the yellow bush, I think she thought that I was crazy. But after seeing herself on the back of my camera, her AND MOM saw my vision!

Senior Picture Laughs

To say we had fun on this shoot is an understatement. It may have been the nerves because of the weather, but these big laughing pictures of Rachel’s make me smile every. SINGLE. TIME I see them!!

We got back up to the upper camp and the pavilion just in time for the rain to start. Rachel is attending Eastern University to become a youth Pastor (I think that’s right), so capturing some of her future was important to her as well as incorporating where she’s come from!

I love that you can see the rain just outside of the pictures against the cross. When we were finished with the Eastern shirt, Rachel asked if she could put on her dress again and I would take pictures of her dancing in the rain. UMMMM YES PLEASE!! So that is exactly what we did. I stayed dry under the pavilion and she danced in the rain like no one was watching.

I absolutely loved this session with Rachel and her mom. I hope that they love the images as much as I do! Mom only got teary eyed a couple of times!
